What:    Interactive animation workshop held by Gerrit van Dijk with as a
result a Dutch-Georgian co-production of an animation film
Where:  Theatre and Film Georgian State University, Tbilisi, Rustaveli ave.19
When:   10-20 June, 2011

The animation workshop is planned as a means of creative interaction and collaboration between Gerrit van Dijk and young Georgian artists. This activity will open a dialog between different animation traditions, backgrounds and generations; a work in a group aimed at creating an outstanding piece of art, a collective Dutch-Georgian animation film based on traditional Georgian music.

The participants of the workshop will work together with Gerrit van Dijk, share ideas and cultural experiences. The process itself will be a great inspiration for young Georgian artists as well as for Gerrit van Dijk. As for the final co-production of the Georgian-Dutch animation film, it promises as well to be a revelation: a fresh look, new mutual influences and inspirations and a completely new product. We hope that this cooperation will be the first step in the Dutch-Georgian film-making relationship. We also hope to create such a sparkling and positively charged atmosphere, that it might lead to other joint projects or even a long-term cooperation in the futur

This sort of collaborations is usually extremely inspiring for all participants. A week’s intensive interaction will not stay traceless for both parties and will be most likely reflected in their future work.
